Approach: Connection to Self

Last week in Approach…

“Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.”

-Gary Snyder

This week in Approach, both ninth and tenth grade groups got a chance to practice mindfulness skills both indoors and out. They practiced noticing their mental and emotional states through activities in workshops as well as tried creating their own mindful practices - plus some group members put their leadership and mindfulness skills into action with the horses at Windhorse Equine Learning Program. There’s no better way to stay present than through working with a 1000 pound animal in your hands!

All groups spent time finding their personal connections to nature and took time to notice how being in the outdoors affects their state of mind. Long summer days have provided an opportunity for all to appreciate and enjoy this beautiful place we call home.
